Ten things to do with your WOUK2000 CDROM:

3: Desktop Wallpaper
Explanation
You can export images from the MrSID™ viewer as TIF files. If you open these in your image viewer, you can save them in an appropriate file format to use as desktop wallpaper on your computer.

Requirements

  • MrSID™ (compatible with Windows95/98/00/NT and Power PC Macs)
  • Image Viewer that can save files as BMP and/or JPEG

Steps for PC

  1. Export the required image from MrSID™, using the Export option (from 'File') and save it to your hard disk
  2. Open the file in your image viewer and save as BMP (you can use JPEG files if you have Windows Active desktop)
  3. Open your Display Control Panel (from Start/Settings in Windows95/98/00/NT) and select the Background tab (default)
  4. 'Browse' to the location of the image file and select it, selecting the Display option that you require
  5. Click OK

Steps for Mac

  1. In MrSID viewer, save as TIFF
  2. Open Appearances control panel (only in 8.5 and up as standard; in earlier Operating Systems, there is something called the "Desktop Pictures" Control Panel)
  3. Click on the "Desktop" tab
  4. Click on "Place picture" and point at the TIFF that was saved in step (1).
  5. Close and say "OK" to everything.
For more info, open the Mac Help Centre (from Help menu) and look at "Settings"/"Customising your desktop".
